The Compaq Enterprise Storage Array 12000 offers RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, and 3/5 and is ideal for
capacity requirements from 300 GB at the entry level through multiple terabytes, limited only by host
connectivity. ESA12000 FC solutions offer the highest availability with fully redundant components,
including power supplies and fans. The architecture incorporates the latest in StorageWorks Fibre Channel
RAID controller technology, as well as the StorageWorks Command Console, an easy-to-use centralized
configuration and management tool.
ESA12000 FC controllers include 256 MB of cache standard. Upgrades to 1 GB cache per controller pair
are available. Cache features include mirrored write-back cache for use in optimizing performance where
redundant capabilities are required for high availability system configurations. In the rare event that a
storage controller fails, the mirrored data is immediately available to the remaining controller for continuing
operation.
ESA12000 FC supports high availability in cluster configurations. Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) with
Intel platforms are fully supported with the ESA12000 FC.

The Compaq StorageWorks Command Console V2.1 is a full-featured, multiplatform configuration and
monitoring tool for Compaq Enterprise Storage Arrays. It allows relatively simple configuration of the
storage array, and also provides at-a-glance summary status through a user-friendly graphical interface. The
console supports industry-standard protocols such as the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
